Food Loss and Waste Reduction
Program Objective
To conduct research and related activities that support USDA’s strategy to reduce food loss and waste. These activities may include the development of educational materials; the conduct of workshops and courses; or the conduct of research on best practices with respect to food loss and waste reduction and food recovery.

How to Apply
Award Procedure
The Office of the Chief Economist and through an interagency agreement the National Institute of Food and Agriculture considers proposals received, evaluates the qualifications of the proposal with respect to the research issue, and, in consultation with the selected cooperator institution, establishes a funding level and the specific deliverables due at the conclusion of the agreement.

Use of Funds
Allowed Uses
Funds can be used to conduct research that is in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Economist's in-house research and analysis programs and projects. Funds cannot be used for construction, renovation, real property purchases, and in most cases, equipment.
