States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Your state's Workforce Agency or governor-designated Cooperating State Agency (CSA) must submit the request.
What is the deadline?
The deadline for FY 2026 fund requests is July 13, 2026. This is a fixed deadline, not rolling.
What is TAA program funding used for?
TAA funds support training and employment services for workers affected by trade. Activities include career counseling, job training, and employment assistance.
What is the typical funding range?
Awards vary, but the total FY 2026 pool is $34.9 million across all states. Not all states receive the same amount.
Is there cost-sharing required?
No. This grant does not require matching or cost-sharing contributions from states.
💡 Tips for applicants
- Work with your state Workforce Agency or CSA early to understand your state's historical funding and eligible worker population. Early coordination is essential.
- Prepare detailed documentation of workers affected by trade within your state. This justifies your funding request amount.
- Review the full TEGL (Training and Employment Guidance Letter) carefully for all submission requirements and timelines. Requirements may have changed from prior years.
- Build your request with clear projections of how TAA funds will serve dislocated workers. Tie requests to documented need.
- Submit well before the July 2026 deadline to allow time for internal review and corrections. Last-minute submissions increase error risk.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Incomplete documentation of trade-impacted workers in your state reduces funding request credibility. Missing required forms or submitting after the July deadline results in automatic rejection. Underestimating the number or demographics of eligible workers weakens your competitive position.
