Law Enforcement Assistance Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Laboratory Analysis

DEA laboratories will conduct specialized forensic chemical analysis and examinations involving drug evidence for duly constituted state, county, and municipal law enforcemnt agencies on an as needed basis, in accordance with DEA policy and procedures. This service supplements but does not replace services provided by state, county, or municipal laboratories. The agencies/laboratories requesting the service must not have the capability of conducting the examination(s)requested. Examinations are made with the understanding that the evidence is connected with an official investigation of a criminal matter related to the mission of the DEA, and that the resulting laboratory report will be used only for official purposes related to the investigation or subsequent prosecution. Laboratory services and follow-up court testimony, if required, will be provided free of cost to agencies. DEA will assist state, county, and municipal agency laboratories with the training of their forensic chemists, as necessary and where appropriate. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GRANT PROGRAM.
