💡 Tips for applicants

  • Start with the USAMRAA website and full RFP for specific program details and allowable budgets. Read all requirements carefully.
  • Build a strong team with relevant expertise. Include collaborators with track records in lupus or related immunology research.
  • Provide compelling preliminary data and clear, measurable aims. Vague or overly ambitious proposals are often rejected.
  • Address military or public health relevance explicitly. Explain how findings could benefit service members or the broader population.
  • Budget conservatively and justify every expense. DoD reviewers scrutinize budgets for alignment with project scope.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Weak preliminary data or unfocused research questions are top reasons for rejection. Missing required forms or security compliance documentation will disqualify applications. Unclear connection to lupus or lupus research needs is a common issue.
