FY2024 The Policy Center continues to actively identify the needs and concerns of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers to make policy recommendations and perform strategic outreach while engaging and informing stakeholders.

Program Objective

The Policy Research Center was established to collect, analyze, and evaluate data to develop policy recommendations for the protection and promotion of the interest of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. The Center will serve as a public awareness center that will provide education to the public about the history and condition of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.

Only 1890 Institutions as defined in 7 U.S.C. 7601, including Tuskegee University, may apply and are eligible to receive funds under the Act of August 30, 1890 (& U.S.C. 321 et seq.).

Description

The Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers (SDFR) Policy Research Center was established to shape and develop agriculture policy and implement strategies to make significant contributions to the Farm Bill that will improve the success of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.

The Policy Research Center specializes in policy research impacting socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. Land loss, land retention, and access to local, state, and federal programs, and youth education and nutrition are major areas of research and policy development.
